Tuesday, June 27, 2006Boing Boing'dThere was a good blog post about a Comcast employee that got caught sleeping on someone's couch, and how he got fired. I added a little comment about another story or two that I heard about other funny Comcast stories. Here is the link They linked back to here and I've got like 140 extra hits since then. I wish I didn't get kicked out of Google Adsense for clicking my own links. Poop.
Comments:
Good post and the boingnet story was funny, BUT one thing NOBODY has mentioned is that the guy BRIAN who took the video and then posted it to Internet, he VIOLATED that man's privacy and COST him a job. What role does BRIAN play in all this and why has not even BoINGBOING commented or criticized Brian for this? and how does Brian feel now! satisfied he got a guy fired? using technology and rumor websites? Terrible. If everyone is going to video everyone, we will never know the word privacy again. What is wrong with AMerica these days? A bunch of angry online thugs.! Boing boing should be ashamed and Brian should apologize and pay the man back pay. What a whiner he is, at least talk to the guy first and ask him if he was having any problems at work or home. every hear of empathy, Brian.
O america, sick country! and hey, Banana, Post this to boing and see if they accept it!
The guy was there to do his job, not sleep. How is Brian and America to blame? I sure as hell wouldn't want any of my employees to be slepping on the job.
In response to the anonymous poster:
So it's not Comcast's fault for always having jampacked lines due to spending the regular price increases on what exactly? Doughnuts? Gold plated toilet seats in the executive offices? C'mon, while the tech certainly had no business falling asleep he shouldn't have had to wait on hold for an hour under any circumstances. The symtom is the guy falling asleep (yeah unprofessional) but the cause is shoddy corporate attention to having enough customer service reps. Plus Comcast has among the worst most horrible music playing on their support lines, It's like a musical version of the horse whisperer as performed by Yanni, Kenny G, John Tesh and Celine Dion all at once.
I don't see what the argument is here. You sleep on the job anywhere you get fired. If your understaffed boo hoo join the rest of the world, it doesn't mean you can slack off. If anything it means you have to work harder, lazy lazy lazy.
