Tuesday, June 22, 2004JorbMy posts have been too meaningful lately. So here is some pointless shit!
Made it myself with some odd lite-brite internet dealio. I noticed a bumper sticker that said "Piss off a liberal" Buy a gun. So I made this:
:D Sunday, June 20, 2004New musicHey everyone, just a little update because I can't think of anything really to talk about. I added a little back beat for your listening pleasure. You can shut it off by clicking the link beside the title. ~Shine on you crazy diamonds. Thursday, June 17, 2004....I feel emptyNow that school is over, I feel nothing inside. Not that school was the one thing that kept me full of feeling. I think it is just that the bullshit of cliques and hat rules are gone forever, and now it makes me feel good. However, I'm not feeling "Good" good, I'm feeling the kind of good where you can sit around and watch movies with your friends till 6 am good. The kind of feeling where nothing is going on, and nothing really matters. The same kind of feeling you get when the only stimulus is the company of your friends, with no additives like beer. I'm super excited for Uni. So far I have at least 8 friends who will be there at the same time. So I won't be booted out into the cold-unknown alone. However, this is something quite different than I have ever experienced. Living on my own, class structure that promotes learning, rather than structure. It's going to be hella weird, but I'm really excited for the challenges that lie before me. Monday, June 14, 2004Watch OUT!The highly anticipated sophomore release from Alexisonfire (Pronounced alexis-on-fire) is finally out for me to review. Enjoi
Alexisonfire - Watch Out! Saw these guys awhile back, and they seriously have changed my outlook on music. This album is highly guitar driven, just like the last album. However this time, the amazing instrumentals take the back burner for more lyrics. Where the 1st album had screaming, screaming and some melodies to go with the screaming, the lead singer George takes a bit of a breather and tones down the screaming. Underneath the newfound melodies, comes some "Whoahs" really long "punk" ones I remember from bands like AFI and Bad Religion. This may seem to be a "Selling out point" to most, however we are not here to debate such silly things. The album really moves, no slow points that I noticed. Held together with a nice glue that screams "Hardcore" but has some nice elements of what makes "Emo" and "Punk" so fun to listen to. Very good Album, I give it a 4.8/5 I've got 2 more albums I'll be reviewing in the next week, so check back Sunday, June 13, 20043 Days left, how will we survive? With 3 days of highschool left, I'm getting pretty pumped. 2 months of summer vacation followed by the journey into the hazy void known as university. I only have 1 final Exam left for highschool, Science 30 (A.k.a Remedial Science 101). Ok, so calling it "Remedial" is abit harsh. A few people had to drop it, but that is cool. Science isn't everyone's bag. However, I have the final coming up soon (The written is in under 12 hours) and I feel fine. So, unless some metaphysical being throws me a terrible curve ball, I'm passing science 30. ROCK! Well, the harbringer of doom approaches [Late edit: My Mom]. So I must get some much needed shut eye. Fair well from Highschool Jaron W. Wednesday, June 09, 2004One week, or 5 days of classes!School year is finally coming to a end. The moment that I have been looking forward to for as long as I knew that there were only 12 grades. (Someone once told me they had a friend in grade 100 who would beat me up if I messed with him) Has anyone else noticed how old some of us are getting? First point... Doesn't each year seem to go by quicker than the last? I mean, I spent most of elementary school dreading final report cards because I thought I may be held back. It seemed like each year was so long and dreadful. However, as middle school came by, I realized that I was too smart to ever fail (unless I missed alot of school/stop applying myself). Those days went by faster and faster with each grade, with alot of focus on grade 8. Finally, each grade from 9-12, has gotten faster and faster. Oddly enough, grade 12 was the easiest, fastest and funnest. Secondly, I think to myself and realize that some people were infact born in the 1990's. It is very wierd, but they missed how cool the 80's AND 90's were (As they were much too young to know the greatness of the original TMNT). It is so wierd thinking that soon, people who know the Care Bears only as mythical pop-icons, will be flipping burgers and dispensing drinks for me and my business associates. Our amusing references to Satuday morning cartoons will fall upon deaf ears, and no one will remember M*A*S*H or Cheers!" What kind of world will this be, when everyone is watching "Friends" re-runs, and everyone thinks that only old people watch Seinfeld? Soon I'll be an adult, and it is gunna scare the hell out of me. Tuesday, June 08, 2004Day 2 and No RiotsI'm real proud of everyone who didn't riot last night/this morn. I half expected the half-nude women and all-drunk men to destroy everything on the red mile. Thankfully, Megatunes (good record store), is not burnt to the ground. I was chatting with someone the other day about pants. Well, actually it was more about "the lack thereof". It was about "Short Pants", or as some like to call them "Capris". I personally wear said pants, but I don't call them capris (since they are very baggy) and I feel kinda un-inspired when I say "Short pants". So I was excited when I heard a person at work reffer to them as "Ports" or "Shants". A nice Amalgamation of Shorts and Pants, which I think makes them sound very "Pirate" which is what I think inspired the entire look. Take a look at Urban Dictionary's definition of the term Shants. Kinda rolls of the tounge eh? Monday, June 07, 2004Jokes about your momI just finished watching the entire "Freaks and Geeks" television series on DVD. Great show on a great format. Not since those Time life TV commercials could you get a entire series worth of commercial free television programming delivered to your home without hassle. I really, really like this show. I thought it had a extremely good outlook on teens, realistic, but not really sappy or melodramatic. Funny, and yet real. Tonight is a big game for Calgary and Tampa. Both teams are relativly young compared to the oldies of the NHL. This would be the first Stanely cup for the future great Jerome Iginla, and the first cup for old-timer Dave Andreychuk, who may never get another chance for a cup. While I don't want the Flames to lose, I think that regardless of the score, a good game will be played, and fun times will be had by all those playing and all those watching. I'm extremely proud of all the players of both teams, and my hat has been tipped and tipped again to the Flames. I just checked out Diesel Sweeties this morning and I got a good chuckle.
The follies of a good Indie Rocker at his finest. Some people will know I'm not a supporter of whoring out my albums to people, but I will gladly make you a mix tape of music I think you should listen to. That may seem abit hypocritical, but I think there is a fine line between sharing, stealing. I'm doing the artist a service by letting other people enjoy a taste of their music. Thanks to R. Stevens for making such a great webcomic and not being a nazi about reproduction! Friday, June 04, 2004It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fineTo some, there is under 10 days till the end of the world. To others, we are getting the FUCK out of highschool. Which in my opinion is the best news I have heard in a few months. I'm sick of the bullshit, I'm sick of the cliques, and I am VERY sick of the irrational rules. Grad is coming up, and everyone seems to be nervous and whatnot. I'm not sure why, the hard part is over, we all just need to sit back and relax. 12 years in the making, and these people are worried about a few hours of their life. For those who are graduating with me, I'll see you then. Wednesday, June 02, 2004Sparta Pictures upWith a bit of a delay before they actually played, Sparta came out and rocked my world. After a little warm-up chat, they busted into "Cut your Ribbon" the first song off their debut Full-length. Playing a good mix of stuff from their debut and their forth-coming release, as well as a "Extended" version of "Glasshouse Tarot" (Which ended with a melodic singing "against" George Bush's illegal war). Any how, here are the pictures Directory Tuesday, June 01, 2004News no one really cares about-There is a Sparta concert tonight! (I'm going) Pics to come!Link -I'll also be posting new pictures of my house (the one I have yet to see, but will be moving into this summer) -There are some interesting musical releases coming out. # new Alexisonfire Album # new Sparta Album # a 5.1 stereo surround release of "the Soft Bulletin" by the Flaming Lips Hopefully we have a great summer of love and music coming up infront of us. P.s I'll be needing a Warped Tour correspondent, someone with a digital camera and a knack for writing to write me up a review! |
