The Son of Godzilla

I was trying to think up an idea for a movie project I have to do, and I started thinking about naming my film, "Son of Godzilla" for no real reason other than to attract attention. It's a great title, eventhough the actual son of godzilla was really ugly and kinda creepy. This made me bring up google, and look up the entire movie library including the famous Japanese monster. Let me tell you, there are a lot of Godzilla movies, and don't think for a minute that Godzilla starring Matthew Broderick was the cream of the crop. Infact, the entire "Americanization" of Godzilla reminds me of the war on terror, but I won't get into that.

On a different note, the mixtape will be taken down around 12 am Mountain time, so if you want to get it, do so ASAP. I'm thinking about making a portfolio site for my crap that I have made this semester, so I will be needing the webspace.

Got the new Beck album, as well as the "Death From Above 1979", which I have been putting off for a long time. Beck is deffinately back, he left for a little bit, released "Sea Change" which was good, but too sad, and now the new album is striking back with the likes of Odelay.

Anyways, may you be guided by the Father, Son and the Mechagodzilla.

Get out my Face

Ok, Sunday at 4:30 mountain time, will be the unofficial launch of "Life by Stereo In Stereo".

My pal Nathan has graciously let me program half of his radio show, and I am very excited for the result. I'll be playing M83, Air, TV on the Radio, Chemical Brothers, hopefully some Mars Volta, and a whole bunch of other stuff. So mostly I'll be playing chillaxin' beats, and some spunky electronic music.

You can listen in Lethbridge at 88.3 on the FM dial. Or on your computer at CKXU.com

Good night Southern Alberta.

Easterizzle

Ok, so today is Thursday, so that means no school tomorrow due to GOOD FRIDAY! I'm pumped for sleeping in on Friday and generalling shitting around on Monday.

I hope someone other than Einars downloaded my Summer mix, because I really want some comments about it. The first two songs are a bit weak, but I want to know what you guys think about it. Come on, it's really good, and FREE.

I've realized today that I don't play nearly enough videogames anymore. I spent most of my summer playing "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance", since I was alone in my house for a good month. This made me remember how much time I really spent on my Gameboy, and how many gameboys I have gone through. Gameboy (a.k.a Brick Boy), Gameboy Pocket, Gameboy advance and Gameboy Advance SP. I could have probably narrowed that down to just two different gameboys, but the smallness of the GB pocket and the rechargable battery of the GBA sp was too much for my gadget loving geek mind could handle.

Speaking of gameboy, I just got a terrible lust of "Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening". I lost my copy in middle school, so I just placed a bid on one over at eBay. If you haven't played before, this game is probably the best hand-held action game of all time. Problem solving puzzles, intense boss battles, stealing from the town shop and awakening the wind fish. All wonderful memories from such a wonderfully orchestrated game.

Anyways, back to class.....

Ultraviolet Sound Beta 1

I made this summer mix tape for ya'll to hear real quick like and I think you may enjoy how poppy it is. Until the end when the sun goes down and you all cry to the likes of "My Bloody Valentine". I'm not 100% happy with the mix yet, so that is why it is in Beta mode, so shoot me some input on the mix @ Jaron@lifebystereo.com

Sorry about the quality, but I should let anyone rip off recording artists by me just giving you high-quality mp3s. Also, it saves on server space.

Later days,

Edit: Seems something went wrong with the server and it isn't up yet, I'll do my best to get it together once I get home.
Edit #2: The link now works, as of 5:18 pm, Mountain time.

Thrift Store Fashions

Yesterday I picked up "Degrassi JR. High" on DVD, yepper, the entire 1st season of the greatest teenage mellowdrama that Canada ever produced is on Dvd. It was wonderful, I went into HMV and they were listening to some Johnny Cash, so I was like "RAD" and found they were doing the 2 CD for 25 bucks dealio. So I picked up Zero 7 and the Shins. A very good deal at 12.50 per CD.

However finding Degrassi JR. High in the TV boxsets really made the trip worth while, and the burrito from taco time.. but that was more in a "MM.. Food" type worth than, "Endless hours of child hood memories!".

In other news, I updated the template of the site. I think it kinda look cool, kinda simple, but kinda strange and big. If you don't like it, or have any other comments, then shoot me an e-mail (bananatree@gmail.com) or use the comment system.

I can only breath Hydrogen

Fuck me, talk about shit storm.

Friday night was a festivities to end all festivities. Some blokes decided to take in some drinking, and they decided it a great idea to do the "100 shots in 100 minutes" game with beer. It ended before the 100 minutes, and everyone was really hammered. I personally couldn't think of doing that, so I drank my weekly dosage of rum.

Let me tell you, Booster, Scuba Steve, Kenny and Kent have to be the most retarded people to get drunk with, if I have ever met someone to get drunk with. While some of the most ridiculous things happened throughout the night (including some great video footage of me doing a rum induced pirate jig), the morning after was terrible. I woke up with a sore throat, missing car keys, missing rum and one less shirt than I arrived with. (I remember taking my shirt off at one point in the night, then ran outside to enjoy the rain)

I'm in a little bit of a foul mood now, not grumpy, but definitely not feeling this entire day. I called in to work to tell them I was sick, but no one answered the phone. I left a message, but I doubt they heard it. I was supposed to be there an hour ago, but whatever, if I get fired it will motivate me to get a better job finally.

Have a good weekend.

Too much funk for my little brain

So here I am, on this wonderfully bright, cheery and sunny Thursday afternoon, writing on my blog to you.

Like I was saying before, my mood is really dependant on the sun, and it is shining like a glorious god and I am loving it. I'm chilling out to a CD Einars was so gracious to send me. It's by MF Doom, and boy is good. Just some funk drums with some synths, great chillin' music.
The sun is shining, the beats are flowing, and I'm happy.

I went down to The CKXU office today to talk to the program director about getting myself on the radio. Looks as though "Life By Stereo" on the stereo could be up as early as April 1st (Boo-yeah). Possibly getting 3 hours to fill with inane ranting and hipster music.

That's all I guess....

Good Tidings

Hello faithful readers, and new readers alike. (who am I kidding, I have no readers)

I wanted to hit you guys up and tell you how my week is progressing. It is progressing wonderfully. I've come to the point where the inanity of school has become so blissful that I kind of blink my eyes a few times and my week is over. I'm going to all of my classes, never ever skipping... And having a great time just chilling out in all the down time I am getting. It's great now that the weather is warming up, my mood is pretty dependent on warmth. Bad things happen, and I just go outside and enjoy all the radiation beaming down onto my pale face and I smile.

If in on your MSN messenger list, you'll know that I'm super pumped about two things right now: Sockbaby and The new Mars Volta album entitled "Frances the Mute". Sockbaby is a retarded short film over at Channel101.com, which is a really neat website over all. Sockbaby can be found here

The new Mars Volta disc is probably the most exciting thing that has happened to me this week, and I guess month, because the beginning of this month and the drop of this CD came concurrently. The CD is exactly what I've been needing to get me out of the winter funk. I was listening to too much electronic music and I think it was making me tired and melancholy. However, the excitement, and general awesomeness of the album has rocketed me out of any ruts I was in, and now all I want to do is have a good time and listen to this album. Except while I am writing, because the album puts my brain on "Acid" mode and everything I write comes out somewhere between Hunter S. Thompson and Bram Stoker. Anyways, the album is great and I can't get enough of the flippin' thing. Cedric and Omar have created another great acid freakout for me to decode and over-analyze.

Anywho, that's about its for me. I think later this weekend I will be posting links to a Mix-tape I'm in the process of making. Super lo-fi MP3s or something, so it won't be a huge download, and it'll force you to buy the albums if you don't want to hear a lot of hiss during the songs.

-To be continued... ?..!
