Friday, December 30, 2005Wave of BabiesThis Christmas went pretty well! I got coffee and Cigarettes on DVD, as well as VOID (Video Overview In Deceleration) by the Flaming Lips on DVD. Both of those wondrous gifts are from Martine, and she is much loved for them. Santa (no I don't still believe in him) brought me a Shortwave radio that has the ability to be powered by a crank. It's really nifty as I have been interested in Shortwave radio for a little over a year now. Hopefully when Fifa World Cup '06 comes around, I'll be able to catch the games on the BBC or something since I don't have cable. I also got some books, and 3 Miles Davis CD's, I am excited to soak in all the new stuff. Me and Martine are 80% sure that we are taking a trip to Vancouver during reading week. That's a full week off of school in Feb. so it should be a very cool adventure. Looks like we'll be taking the bus from either Lethbridge or Calgary and just riding it out until we hit the GVA. The only thing standing in our way is money, both living as students, we are going to have some troubles having enough money for a lavish holiday. Me thinks that we are going to do a lot of sleeping on people's floors, and eating ichiban noodles and sandwiches. Hopefully we can live on less than 20 bucks a day for food each, and pay nothing for lodging. There is a Nada Surf concert at the end of the week, so that will bite into the funds a little. I'm working part-time, so I can save up the cash, but Martine is without employment, this causes a problem. Hopefully she will find a way to possibly make some money without taking time out of school to make some money for the trip. I'm pretty excited because I have never gone this far away from my home, without a defined place to stay for the entire trip. Most of this trip will possibly consist of walking fair distances, public transit and crashing on the floor of some very generous people. On one final note, the site may disappear for a little bit, but it will soon return! Love, Jaron W. Saturday, December 24, 2005Mad FundamentalsI got my grades back for the semester and I did as was expected in everything except music. I thought for sure I had a pretty good mark, and ended up with a C. I did slack off a bit in that class, but I did really good on 85% of the assignments, and did about 95% of them, plus I didn't do too badly on the tests. Maybe I just F'd up the final. Those are the breaks I guess. As I type I am thinking up the things I want to play for my radioshow tomorrow. Hip-hop is such a fun genre that I really didn't like until I heard some stuff that wasn't Top-40. It's also really fun to DJ since a lot of the songs can be cross faded, and mixed and whatever. I'm not calling myself some bad-ass DJ, but it is really fun mixing beats. Also while typing I am watching "The Labyrinth". This is still one of my favourite movies after seeing it probably 20 times. Thursday, December 22, 2005Secret SatanI got Martine's Christmas gift. Well a portion of it anyways. I feel the initial gift isn't 100% enough, so I SHOPPING I shall go. From my CKXU Secret Santa, I got a bottle of Cologne. It's a 5 dollar bottle of "Troy" (a HOWEVER, my Secret Satan is apparently dropping my gift off at 10:00 Pm today (Dec. 22nd 2005). This is very cool, as real life interaction is totally key. However, if I am to go missing, then my capture's name and address is somewhere on the internet (Read: Penny-Arcade Forum "Debate and Discourse"). Not to sounds paranoid or anything, but being kidnapped would suck. Especially so close to the holidays. Mucho Love from Bananatree. Wednesday, December 21, 2005Ho Ho HomiesHow are you all? Everyone around here is gone home for Christmas, and it makes for a little bit of a lonely time. Luckily there are enough Lethbridge natives to make sure everyone is having a good time. Tuesday night was great for all around good times, we drank, we pretended to be Danish, everyone was having fun. Props for Steve B. for coming to the Lethbridge and enjoying some beers with me. Thursday, December 15, 2005My beats is sick like MalariaFresh, very fresh yall. On Sunday January 1st, I'll also be doing a special radio show. I'll be playing Zaireeka (the 4 disc Flaming Lips Album) for all to hear. It should be fun, and all will dance. It's all happening! Tuesday, December 13, 2005Much Ado about Christmas![]() Oh snap, it's almost Christmas and all my shopping is almost done. Does anyone know what to get for my Mom and Pop? They are kind of hard to shop for, so I have no idea what to get them. Although I may end up just getting them something for the kitchen, since they have to cook food for my sister. I got three new awesome things: One is Degrassi Jr High Season 3 on DVD, and the Archie Holiday digest. I'm pretty excited and have been watching it for the past 2 days. The third thing is the new album from Sigur Ros, which is pretty cool. Sigur Ros rocks my socks off on a regular basis, and the new album is no different. I'm pretty sure my entire Xmas is going to be Degrassi, Sigur Ros and making crafts out of Archie comics. Chicky Chicky, thanks to Einars for a pack of CDs. Broken Flowers here I come. Monday, December 05, 2005All I did was party and get laidI've got an intense new need to make a fun winter mix. It's been a wild week for weather, and I frankly need a release. Snow & Cold tends to make me a little depressed from time to time, and we've had enough of that. I really enjoy how being depressed in the winter is now a disease. SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder is apparently caused by too much winter and not enough sun. Your hypothalamus cannot handle the shortened sunlight and makes you want to kill yourself. Some of the treatments include; exposure to intense lighting to simulate the sun, anti-depressants, and simple counseling. I think that I would count myself crazy if I had to go to a psychiatrist to talk about my winter feelings, and for him/her to remind me that winter will be over soon. I kid, I know this kind of stuff can really destroy some people's ability to function correctly, and my SAD is pretty weak compared to them. Best regards, Saturday, December 03, 2005DeerParkIf you haven't checked out Firefox yet, I suggest you do it. Version 1.5 is out and if you have a Mac G4 or G5 they have a special version just for you! Firefox is much better than Internet Explorer, and that is just science. Lately I have been trading my late shifts for really early shifts at work. It's good fun kind of, I like being up really early, even if it does make me kind of sick to my stomach. To reconcile for having to work all shitty morning, I am going to have a really good radio show, then get drunk. I truly believe that this is the only course of action that is acceptable. I'd like all to take a peek at this picture and find 74 band names: LINK |
