With great power

I saw the first 25 minutes of Spiderman today, after all those years of never seeing the movie, and I must say I am pretty impressed. If I would've known that James Franco was in the movie, I would've watched it ages ago.

Not a lot to talk about these days, I'll scan some more negatives, and my prints once I get them back from my prof. My next assignment involves taking pictures of your direct living space without emphasis on anything. So I think he means that he really does not care if we are very non-literal. I just got an idea, but I don't want it stolen, so no post. However it will have a ladder involved somewhere.

I recently viewed and really liked "Bend it like Beckham", now I am getting really excited for World Cup 2006 in Germany. Also Keira Knightly is a joy to watch run. Expect some hooliganism come June.

Against the LAW

This year it is against the law to broadcast election results from other provinces before the government says it is "alright" at 10 pm ET. According to Cbc.ca, The law clearly forbids any type of public broadcast. However, with the surge of amateur "News Sources" like blogging and podcasting, this law becomes a lot easier to break, and all by people like myself.

How many viewers constitute "the public"? I'm really not sure, but expect some election results tomorrow if I'm not too busy. I'm sure the internet is going to be filled with election results as soon as it drops.

eyePhoto

My photo class is in full steam right now, and I also have a printer/scanner that is about to be set-up so I can scan all my good photos. Since my digital camera broke, I've been hurting for a new one, so this analog shooting will be good for me I think. The only semi hard part is having to develop all the shots by hand. Einars does this all the time, but it looks like it leaves him able to be very creative. So I look forward to taking and developing shots. Matter of fact, I am going to sleep so I can wake up chipper for some photography and developing film.

Edited: I just took, developed and scanned some film :O Here is the first picture!

It looks bad because of a few things, but mostly because it is all dusty! I'll have some better pictures to post later if they come out nicely.

Not Microsoft

I'm at the university right now, typing on Martine's new Laptop that she got for her birthday, and this just reminds me about how much I really don't like the Windows operating system. I find it to be so fake looking, these cheezy "Future Metallic" skins try and touch OSX, like they really need to compete. I use Windows 2000 at work, and I think it works as a pretty good system, however XP is my idea of what the future would look like if no one had any creative ideas, but still had ideas about "User Friendly GUIs". Windows Vista apparently has some "New Features" that in a lot of ways are ripped off of Mac OSX. Apple stole widgets from Konfobulator, and Microsoft is putting MS "Gadgets" in Vista. Also adding a glassy effect to things, and putting an end to the "Alt-tab is the only way" window switching.

On a very similar note, I did some of my first dealings with the Linux operating system. Which is free, and totally open to the public to work on, and improve as you see fit. CKXU is trying to get out internet feed back online, and we are trying to avoid Windows like the plague. Keeping Windows off will probably cut down on the system resources, and overall crashes. I'm pretty excited to eventually get elbow deep on Linux! In other news, I'm a huge nerd

Also, the majority of the visitors to my site actually use Mozilla Firefox, with IE in second and Netscape/Safari coming in a distant tie for 3rd. YEAH!

You wish Christmas was over

Kristy just got me this movie for Xmas

And I must say I'm pretty pumped to add it to my collection of DVDs. I also got a disc filled with music from a music trader in Scotland. I'm finishing the disc I am sending him right now. Almost done, and I have to mail it.

Speaking of mailing things out, I was shopping for movie-time snacks and found a present that was perfect for Einars. It's very special, and I can't see it actually being used, but it was 2.50, and I couldn't resist. So upon the completion of my new mix, I'll be mailing out a few CDRs and a special present.

Neptune, The Mystic

New Years went well, as far as I can tell. No major setbacks to the world, and 2006 is here. I had to work until midnight, so two minutes before my shift ended I ran out of the building to call Martine before the place had officially stolen my soul. We went to a techno party that was kind of fun, although dark and a little loud. I'm not a huge electronic music fan, although I do like to hear people spin from time to time.

Speaking of music.... I'm working on a new mix like I mentioned to lull me into a strange winter trance, so I can be relaxed, then I am going to make one to officially kick me out of it, and I hope it to usher in the season of Spring with a smiling face! Here is a quick look at the tracks:
All Along The Watchtower - Bob Dylan
Black Cherry (M83 Remix) - Goldfrapp
'84 Pontiac Dream - Boards Of Canada
Hoppípolla - Sigur Rós
Soft As Snow (But Warm Inside) - My Bloody Valentine
-I'll finish off the list later and make some cover art :)
Best regards
