Knee High Socks

I'm home now, and I'm pretty excited for sleeping in my own bed with my own pillow. Somehow, I thought watching "Mean Girls" would be a good idea. I haven't seen it, and I thought for some reason it might be interesting in a "Movie for ambient light" way. I am very wrong, and I find myself distracted by all girls in low cut shirts. Silly Lohan, could you be any worse at acting? I wonder if her cocaine problem is stemmed from her awful acting, let's assume for the best.

I got some sweet records from a place called "Zulu Records" in Vancouver, "Something to write home about" from the Get Up Kids, and the first record from the Flaming Lips "Hear it is", that was apparently re-issued on vinyl. White vinyl to boot. I'm pumped to throw it on the 'ole' phonograph.

I got "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick so once I am done "The Dharma Bums", which was recommended to me by a good friend, then it's off to follow the humble Bladerunner on a zany adventure.
This is an awful post, and I am kinda tired so it will no doubt be editing it later. In other news, Mean Girls is actually pretty funny when the plot is not progressing. Lorne Michaels is really funny.

Seabus: Behind the Transit

Ok, the seabus is less pirate adventure and more mass transit meets pirates of the caribbean (with no animatronics or pirates). Its sad, but we saw a sweet boat. You guys can email me at bananatree@gmail.com since someone commented asking me a question about my email.

I'm outta here!

SeaBus

Einars requested info on the SeaBus, but we have yet to ride it. However that is the plan for today, once we figure out where we can ditch some of our shit for the day (all our shit is heavy). Last night we saw the bands "Young and Sexy" and "The Doers". Both rocked very hard and I think it was well worth my 15 dollars.

I can't type much since battery is low and I forgot my charger. However I will tell more tales when I have more battery.

Best regards, Jaron W.

Day 2: Not Dead

Despite the criticism of a certain that fortune cookie I ate, me and Martine are fine after one full day of Vancouver, hurray for our independence! Also, I have one amendment from the 1st post, we were actually on East Broadway and Kingsway, 10th Ave was the historic name of the street.

We've been taking the SkyTrain a lot, it's a really efficient way to get around, and the doors make sounds like Transformers (robots in disguise). I like them a lot more than the Calgary C-train, mostly because it is in the sky, and it seems a bit cheaper. We both paid 8 bucks for a day pass, which lets you take all the modes of mass transportation: SkyTrain, Bus and SeaBus. Isn't that awesome?

Tonight we are going to an open mic set at a cafe to see some of Martine's RockStar friends. I'm excited because one of the guys playing was in one of my favourite bands in highschool Svelte. Who woulda thunk it?
I'm so outta here. Jaron

British and Non-British Columbia

Stopping off in an organic coffee shop, I blog to you again. We've seen the "Gayest Street" in Canada, waled like 50 Km and rode the "Skytrain". The Skytrain is a lot like a Mono-rail, so I was thinking about the Simpsons the entire time. Great times.

We also stopped off at a 1.50 pizza place that was so delicious, I mean it still sucked, but the slice was a buck fifty. There is no way that deal is any type of wrong. Now we are on our way to a island under a bridge, so we can look at umbrellas.

Good Times, Jaron

The internet is hard work

Hey folks, I'm in Vancouver right now. Bit of a dreary day, but I'm pretty excited for the day. If I don't blog that much then it's because I'm super busy, but right now we (Martine and I) just got off the bus and we walked forever to find this beat little cafe called "Our Town", I'm pretty sure we're on Kingsway and 10th Ave, but I'm sure we could be anywhere for all I know.

I just ate a really good portabella mushroom panini while listening to some jazz music. Isn't Jazz music great? I fully suggest this cafe to everyone, as it is my new favourite place in Vancouver. It truly outscores the bus station 10:1.

Ok, Martine would like to check her email and post on her livejournal, so Hey Hey Hey, Sleeping on the bus really sucks

Way to go CKXU

The party people over at CKXU made over 5000 dollars during the Funding Drive, so big props to them. Now we can spruce up the things that we need to be spruced. Martine made a really sweet compilation for the drive, and you can get one for 10 bucks! I'll post the track listing once I figure out the exact listing of both discs.

The "Friends Card" is a really cool kick-back as well. I went to the Andrew Hilton wine merchant to pick up some liquor, and I was quite delighted by the inside. If you are from Lethbridge, I would suggest checking the place out. They have a really nice wine selection, and a beer cooler that has some nice micro-brewed beers that are a little on the pricey side, but really tastey.

All hail delicious beer!

FUN-Drive

At this very moment CKXU is doing their first annual Fund Drive to raise money for the things we need to make our station great! Any amount of money is very important, and we will take it if you want to give it!

CKXU is Lethbridge's only alternative radio station. No commercials , and no payoffs from record companies. We work on a volunteer basis, people in the community, doing it right for the community. No where else in Lethbridge can you hear music, like you do on CKXU.

CKXU Check out the link to listen to the live ShoutCast. You can also give us a call at (403) 332-5254 and donate. Even if you are a fan from out of town, we can take a cheque in the mail. THANKS!

Linksville

Planes, Trains and Plantains: The Story of Oedipus is "apparently" a real university paper written on the Greek myth of Oedipus. I doubt it is for a University, since most university Profs would not want to talk to you after class, especially when you openly mock a assignment they gave out. Regardless, the paper is really funny and worth the read.

That's all for now I'm sure!
Hey Hey Hey, Smoke weed everyday
