GoodBye Canada

Soy Captain played again, and darn was it a little emotional. Even though the band has only been together a few weeks, the end of Soy Captain signals the end of our time with Mitz. For those who don't know who Mitz is, he was the former music director at CKXU, and great friend to us all, and he may have to leave back to Japan. Since he recently graduated from University, his Visa is expired, and he may be deported if he cannot get another one. It's tragic, and added to the tragedy is how awesome the band Soy Captain is.

I won't dwell on it too much, because I don't want to capitalize on the situation. That being said, I also saw a band played called "Scarlet Letters" at Studio 54 in Lethbridge. Composed of some local music students, and my friend Kent, they rocked the party pretty hard. Playing a blend of 80's rock with Emo/Hardcore, the (small) audience was treated with unique covers of Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed America" and Death From Above 1979's "Romantic Rights". It was good.

Seen your shoes lately?

Soy Captain sure has. Mitz, Emily and Aaron, played in their new band "Soy Captain" at the Tongue and Groove Tuesday night. Songs varied between shoe gazing dreamy guitars, and some dirty Pop-rock, Soy Captain pleased in house. The Winks played after, and impressed as usual.

I found an enlarger for photographs for 40 bucks at Value Village. It's all vintage and stuff, and I am pretty excited to make a little dark room in my bathroom.
Jealous? You're jealous.

You need to get more fun out of life

Silence of the Lambs is a great movie, same with Dog Town and Zboys. I've watched both this past week of non-blogging. I get pretty excited about skateboarding, so I must say that this was the perfect movie for me. Jay Adams and Tony Alva are such badasses, if you google Alva you'll see how much of a cool guy Tony Alva is. Sadly, Jay Adams got in to drugs, and apparently isn't doing so well, sad stuff since him and Alva were the best skateboarders of all time. I won't write about Silence of the Lambs, since I have a feeling most people have seen it and don't care to talk about it anymore.

I didn't do anything for St. Patrick's Day, since I had to work and find the whole premise a little silly. Although the Irish do know how to have a great time, the whole "bringing the catholic church to Ireland" doesn't do much for me.

I'm pretty tired, so good night

Dancing Magician

Not much has happened since I last blogged, but then again, not much ever happens around this little corner of Alberta. I bought a lense on eBay and am awaiting it's arrival in the mail. It should be very cool since it can do macro and wide. Plus I will be able to say "Oh, let me just switch lenses", that'll be very pimp.

Ex-blogger and current pal Einars made me a cool mix with some Bert Bacharach on it, I have yet to listen to it, but I think I am going to run out to my car and grab it for some sleeping music. Hopefully these Bacharach tracks are a little peppier than the stuff he did with Elvis Costello, since that shit makes me wheep like a bitch, the sun is slowly creeping back into the sky, and I keep getting nostalgic feelings about the Spring.

That sentence was wierd, because some uncool things happened last spring, but I think last spring was awesome for a few reasons: 1. I saw Death from Above 1979 live (This was one of my favourite shows of all time) 2. I just got out of a very blah relationship and began a more exciting one. 3. The snow melting really got me out of a depressed funk. (I was pretty depressed out my job and school during the winter). All these, plus the fact that the first independant summer of my life was on the horizon. There were only one or two shitty things that happened around that time, so everything was pretty radical.

Eff snow, I love summatime.

Mini Review of 2 Free songs
Free for download on the iTunes Music Store is "River of Daughters" by The Old Soul. I suggest checking this band out. They recently came by Lethbridge and I heard no complaints, and this song is excellent. Support Canadian Music!

Breakfast in Burma

Bing Bing Bing.
Life is pretty much flying by. Bing Bing Bong
That is my fake haiku about how close I am to the mid point of my degree. It seems like I gotta savour it more, but I'm just ready for Summer.
I've made some plans about the summer which I intend on keeping, however some circumstances may kaibosh my plans. Firstly, I need to spend a month in Montreal. My pals Crystal and Emily are going to be living there the entire summer, and I really want to join them. Maybe I blogged about this already, but I'm super pumped. Secondly, Chris B., who is probably my best pal convinced me to go to the Shambhala Music Festival in august. That should be amazing as well, 3 full days of being in the B.C jungle while listening to techno music? Seems cool to me, even though techno music still confuses me.
Goin' to work,
Love Jaron

Green Tea

I just found out that my little iBook is 25 months old, so that means I have been a Mac user for almost 2 years (It dates it by manufactured date, so I assume I bought it a few months after it got finished). Right now I'm procrastinating, again, but the paper I am supposed to write just has to be in point form, so I am not too worried. Last minute work is fun, since sometimes I hate sleeping.

My paper is on "Broken Flowers" starring Bill Murray. It's directed by Jim Jarmusch, so you just know it's good. I decided to buy it since it was 15 bucks at Blockbuster, and I also saw "Lords of Dogtown" for 8 bucks, so I couldn't pass up such a fun movie. Anyways, all that new blogging has gotten me all up and ready to blog, so don't be surprised if I just dream up things to post about for no reason.
Joe Pecsi,

Jaron W.
