Everything is fine

I put up some really cool pictures from a road trip that I took to the mountains of B.C. I shot them with a Fujica 35mm on Ilford B&W film. Then I scanned the negatives, and the rest is history.

After shooting and printing so much digital lately, it was weird having to leave everything up to chemicals and other scientific stuff I do not understand.

I have a lot of stuff to do for various classes, so blogging is taking a back seat, even though blogging IS one of my assignments... I guess I will never become a "pro" blogger. On a much happier note, I have been in an excellent mood since Thursday and I am listening to a leaked copy of the new Arcade Fire album. I suggest buying it to everyone even if they have a leaked copy. My opinion is to give this band as much money as possible, so we can expect a few more solid albums.

Sunrise, Sunset

Days are shooting by like crazy, I am having troubles realizing how fast the weeks are really going by. Thus is the start of a semester I guess, fast and furious.

What I am really get excited for in the next weeks is "These Proportions are Epic" featuring Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. He is travelling from Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton, so if you are in one of those cities, you should check it out.

It's been awhile

I am blogging over at wordpress these days, as I have a blogging class that the prof prefers to be done using wordpress. It's a little hard because I can't just type and whatever, I have to actually convey a message. I do very little of conveying anything on this blog, and I apologize to all of you.

I've been updating my flickr a lot, so I think I will be just posting random artzy things here, and leaving in depth word play to other blogs.
This Picture while not taken by me, is blowing my mind as of right now.

Keep it real guys, keep it real.

License to Ill

I've been rather sick lately, making the first few days of school rather hard. It's fine though, it's given me a chance to experiment with cough and cold medicines. Speaking of experimenting, did you guys see the move Apple made? The iPhone? WOW. Internet, Mp3 player, PDA, it's all there! I'm not going to buy one due to the extreme price, and the fact that I JUST bought a new phone. However, I think the next generation of iPhone will have a few nicer features, and I will be in a better income bracket.

The real coolness that I may get tricked in to buying is the AppleTV. Did anyone else see it? Streaming music and movies from your computer up in to your TV. Pretty radical in my opinion, I don't think I can afford it, or the type of TV that be best suited for such a device. Also, since I think it only really plays content encoded in specific ways, very Apple ways, if you catch my drift. I think I would prefer something that excels at streaming anytype of video I want. I guess you cannot always get what you want. Apple Computers

You can read my blog about "The Sociology of Mass Communication" at blood*like*atlantic. Should be a fun class.

Even though it wasn't that great then...

I'm on a CBC radio binge these days. Not even the hip music shows like "Brave New Waves" or whatever like that. I just really like hearing people talk about stuff. Most interesting is the dearly departed Lister Sinclair who did that show "GO!" up until 1999. His voice is entrancing and entertaining, and his shows are rarely less than informative. While driving to work one morning I caught "Masterpieces of Disco", a comprehensive look at Disco music as a rich art form rather than passing fad. I never thought an old white man could teach me so much about something so soulful, it really changed the way I listen to the CBC.

Also, on some show I didn't catch the name of, people were calling in asking about the value of various items they had in their homes. It reminded me of the antiques roadshow, am I the only one who LOVES the antiques roadshow? Not only does the voice of most Brits delight me to no end, but finding out how much things are worth is awesome. Thank you CBC.

The Love

I am listening to a piece on the CBC about the French, and their love of love. It's strange thinking about the cultures out there that put a lot less stock in monogamy, and abstinence before marriage. It's not that I suggest doing these things, I don't think I am in any position to condone anything, especially anything sexual. However, it really got me thinking about living life passionately.

Is it the conditions that we live in that cause us to supress our feelings of desire? Is it the religious revival of our land that is killing our lust for life? Is it so wrong to want to seize what makes us passionate?

A friend wrote me a letter about how he had figured out why he was always so happy and successful. He told me that he always had a positive outlook on life, regardless of how shitty his life was, he just looked forward as if there was nothing in his way. This same friend has no problems with people seeing him naked, no problems with making love, and no problems with making a complete ass of himself for other's amusement (he is a professional clown and magician). He does what he loves, and loves what he does. Why should that be different than everyone else?

Again, I'm not saying sleep with everyone you know. However, I would like everyone who reads this to take a moment each day, and just do something that you enjoy.

True Alternative

Class starts on the 4th, and it feels like time has just flown by. Classes are hopefully going to be really fun, rather than inane like last semester. More freedom to express, rather than to churn out work like mad. My top two classes will hopefully be "Sociology of Mass Communication" and "History of American Cinema". Awesomely enough, Paul is teaching the sociology class. He's pretty good at blogging, so the class should be a success. Bob Cousins, who is by far the coolest prof ever, is teaching the American Cinema class. If it goes nearly as well as the Film Studies class I took, I should be having some great times whilst learning.

Enjoy!
